bless her sweet soul... the woman who despised cooking more than any person I ever knew, yet the most responsible. I owe my love of cooking mostly to her... because, quite simply, I liked to eat! She' d let me loose in the kitchen while she joyfully played hymns on her organ in the living room, readying for church on Sunday where she played faithfully for 36 years. Then, she'd come behind me, merrily humming the music in her heart and clean up my big fat mess.
So mama... it's all your fault! and i miss you so.

The Frances Chamblee Perry Scholarship Fund
When my Ma Perry passed away when I was only 12, my daddy and his siblings had a great idea. They "auctioned" amongst themselves the personal property in her home, their homeplace, so that whoever wanted this or that could buy it. This money created an educational scholarship fund at their church, Pearce Baptist, the same church mama played the organ at for 36 years, and where I grew up. Each year students heading off to college are awarded small scholarships. For some time, "Ma Per" was a teacher making this scholarship a perfect legacy and tribute... she and "Daddy Per" lived across the road from the church beside his country store in this rural Franklin County community. They were foundations of this church and community, and although few there now know of them, this legacy lives on. Know that with each gift box purchased (seasonally) from Aunt Dee Dee's Kitchen, you will be contributing to this ongoing fund.
